ASSOCIATIONS NETWORKS
- REEJER (Réseau des Educateurs des Enfants et Jeunes de
la Rue) has recently opened in Kinshasa, RDC (

- march 2004). This network wants to federate all the associations
in the Congo that work with children. Its objectives are to train the teachers,
share experiences, encourage joint efforts, provide coordination particularly
in critical circumstances (e.g. kidnapping of children), supply advice through
a bureau, draw attention of the needs to the authorities and public and
to help in family requirements. The network has already 68 members employing
some 400 helpers.
- Abadacogora, Rwanda (

- march 2004) is a member of "Enfants et Jeunes Travailleurs"
(EJT) which provides tuition for all youth, including street children. EGT,
an offspring from ENDA/ Dakar, shares its know-how and educational supplies
with other centres. Three fledgling centres have started up,
managed by 25 children now independent, but each receives a visit from a
trained helper at least once a week.

- ENDA Sénégal et Jeunesse Action
(
flash - march 2004)
organised the sixth "Meeting for African Children and Young Workers"
in Thiès. This comprised 336 groups from53 towns
and 18 countries. Subjects on the agenda included: progress in the Children’s
Rights, the fight against exploitation, professional training and the creation

- Tissons (

- october 2002) operates in Mali and Burkina
Faso. Its activities are "intangible": they consist in
creating synergies, information networks and mutual aid among the various
groups in the field. Its efforts have been rewarded in Burkina Faso by the
drawing up of a "national programme for street children" over
a 5 year period with the ministries concerned and 45 associations known
to Tissons.
